A POPULAR Glasgow pub has announced its shock closure leaving punters gutted.
The Thornwood on Dumbarton Road revealed the devastating blow on social media on Thursday, February 6.
In the post, the owners of the West End establishment said they were "handing the keys back to the landlords".
The much-loved watering hole said its last hurrah will be on March 29.
In the post, the venue said: "News from the Riviera.
"Yup, it’s nearly time. We, Kenny Hamilton and I are handing the keys back to the landlords.
"We’d hoped to share the news differently but when an oversized To Let board goes up, well, I guess we should let you all know.
"March 29 will be our last hurrah.
"The staff all know of course, and they will all be tip-top and excel at whatever path they take.
"So, from now until the end of March, pop in, say hi, say bye and for any prospective tenants, give me or Ken a shout and we’ll steer you right in terms of the lease/building/area/landlord and the like.
"Peace."
Following the sad news, punters of the bar flocked to the comments of the post to share their devastation.
One said: "It's been emotional."
Another added: "End of a great era.
"Great owners and staff, and we wish all the best in whatever comes next."
A third said: "You created something really special - takes a lot of hard work and top people to do that.
"Will miss you and staff greatly."
Meanwhile, a gutted fourth person wrote: "Noooo!
"Really sorry to hear this, you did an amazing thing with the Thornwood, a great place and great people. Wishing you the best in new ventures."
