Popular cafe bans people wearing pyjamas from dining in restaurant

A popular cafe in Co Meath has decided to ban customers wearing pyjamas when sitting down for a meal, although the move has left some people divided.

The Sage & Stone café in Duleek, Co Meath posted the "no pyjamas allowed" rule on social media on Monday with a short message. The cafe owners wrote: "We welcome anyone and everyone who comes to dine wearing their own smart casual clothing.

"We welcome hard working people who come in their work gear as long as it is cleanish. However we draw the line at people coming to dine in our cafe for breakfast wearing their pyjamas."

The original post on Facebook has so far garnered more than 500 comments from the public, many of them in agreement with the new rule. One person wrote: "Think a dress code is fair, it's their establishment. If you be just had a procedure, home is where you should be not a restaurant.

"Don't like the policy, don't go to the restaurant. You don't see people who dislike sushi in a sushi restaurant?"

A second person responded: "You shouldn't even have to write this . Feck sake. Pyjamas are not for dining out it. How much effort does it take to stick on a pair of leggings and a t-shirt or some proper clothes. Pure laziness and no pride in yourself if you go out to eat in pjs!"

However, a number of people slammed the new rule with one person saying: "Well this post makes me want to avoid this place altogether. Maybe you shouldn't judge people."

A second person commented: "You guys must be doing really well if you can pick and choose the paying customer based on what they wear. Shame on you! I would never judge someone for wearing pjs....you have no idea what's going on behind closed doors."

Sage & Stone declined to comment further when contacted by Dublin Live.
