A popular pub in Downend will be closing temporarily for an extensive refurbishment costing a six-figure sum. The Horseshoe on Downend Road is set to shut for several weeks to make significant improvements to both the inside of the pub and its exterior.
The Horseshoe is located in the heart of Downend and offers a hub for the local community. Owned by UK pub group Green King, its website promises friendly service and honest pricing.
A spokesperson for the pub said it would be temporarily from Monday (April 24) while it undergoes a six-figure investment. "The site will reopen to the public in late May, following significant improvements to the interior and exterior of the pub," they said.

It's known for hosting weekly live music events on Sundays as well as offering deals on food. In February last year, manager Dan Smith told BristolLive the pub had plans to renovate the beer garden.
At the time, Mr Smith said: “The Horseshoe is a great local pub with a really strong local clientele and friendly atmosphere. Business is good and our events are growing in popularity, especially the live music at the weekends."
The pub will be announcing its reopening in due course as well as publishing pictures of the full renovation.
