Cardiff Bay bar The Dock has announced its closure. The bar and restaurant overlooking the docks and bay at Mermaid Quay announced the news on Facebook.
A statement shared on Monday night said: "Cardiff Bay loses precious cargo. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce our time has come to an end.
"Thank you for all of the memories. We have loved hosting your celebrations, dancing and dining with you. We would like to thank you for your support and custom over the years. From all of us at The Dock, may you have fair winds and following seas!"
The Brains bar opened its doors back in 2016 after a £1.25m refurbishment. At the time it boasted "eclectic food and drink menus themed on world discovery", from its iconic waterside location.
It appears the bar has closed with immediate effect after their social media account shared that it was hosting its last quiz at the dock on December 29. The restaurant occupies a large unit on the seafront and as of yet there has been no announcement indicating a replacement.
Many of the venue's fans have been left disappointed by the news. Commenting on social media, one person said: "Aww that's such sad news! Absolutely love this place, the Bay won't be the same." While another added: "Ahh that’s bad news. One of the centrepieces of the Bay. Bad news for the team working there I’m sure."
