Popular '90s Brit rock band to visit Venue38 in Ayr as part of UK anniversary tour

A top nineties Brit rock band are heading for Ayr as part of their 25th anniversary tour.

Liverpudlian electronic rock band Space will be taking to the stage at Venue38 in March to mark the 25th anniversary of their hugely popular debut album Spiders- which reached number five in the UK album charts- and their second album Tin Planet.

The popular indie band have sold over five million records worldwide with ten Top 40 singles.

They are best known for hits such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood and The Ballad of Tom Jones- which became a top radio single and resulted in the band performing with Tom Jones in Jools Holland’s annual New Year’s Eve hootenanny TV show.

The band are embarking on a UK tour performing a full set from both albums live for the first time in their history.

And Ayr is one of the lucky- and only Scottish- towns to host Space and witness some nostalgic tunes.

Space will be supported by local indie alternative band The Mocking Byrds, from Ayrshire, who are excited to see a live music revival back in Ayr town.

The Mocking Byrds said on their Facebook page: “Buzzing to announce we will be supporting Space in our hometown of Ayr at Venue38.

“Liverpool has The Cavern, Glasgow has The Barras, Ayr has Venue38. Our town has been crying out for a music venue like this...it’s now down to us to support it.”

Catch Space at Venue38, Carrick Street, Ayr, on Saturday, March 25 at 7pm.

Tickets, £22, can be purchased online at: https://www.venue38.co.uk/event-details/space-spiders-tin-planet-25-year-anniversary-tour
