Hedigans 'the Brian Boru' pub in Glasnevin is set to be demolished under plans for the long awaited MetroLink.
The planning application for the MetroLink project was lodged with An Bord Pleanala in September last year. The latest version of the plan is costed at somewhere between €9.5 billion to €23 billion with construction expected to begin in 2025.
The MetroLink will start in Swords and finish in Charlemont, and will serve Dublin Airport. Under the plans, 16 stations will be built along the line, and the 'Brian Boru' pub will have to make way for the Glasnevin stop.

Former Irish Times journalist Frank McDonald said the project, in its current form, will "lay waste to chunks of the city centre but won't integrate city transportation". One "major casualty" in the plans is the 'Brian Boru' pub which is in between the Royal Canal and the Glasnevin Cemetery .
He wrote on Twitter: "Here's another major casualty of the Metrolink plan: the landmark Brian Boru pub near Hart's Corner is slated for demolition to make way for the proposed Glasnevin station, in what the environmental impact statement concedes would have a 'very significant' impact on the area."
