Pope’s body moved to St Peter’s Basilica for public viewing ahead of funeral

  • Pope Francis' body has arrived at St. Peter's Basilica for public viewing, which will last for three days before his funeral.
  • The funeral mass will be held in St. Peter's Square on Saturday and presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
  • Numerous world leaders, including President Trump, Sir Keir Starmer, President Macron, and President Zelensky, along with the Prince of Wales, are expected to attend.
  • The Pope died at 88 after a period of declining health, including a recent hospitalisation for double pneumonia.
  • Following the funeral, a conclave will be held to elect the next Pope, with no clear frontrunner yet identified.
