Pope Francis has returned to the Vatican after being taken to a hospital earlier today for tests. The Pope himself mentioned that he has been feeling under the weather for almost a week, citing a slight cold. He was at the Gemelli Hospital in the Tiber Island for diagnostic tests, but was only there for about an hour before returning to the Vatican.
Despite his recent health concerns, Pope Francis is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday. Last Saturday, he canceled all audiences due to a slight flu, and on Monday, he did the same because of flu-like symptoms, although without a fever. Over the past year, the Pope has had multiple hospital visits, including hospitalization in March for lung inflammation, abdominal surgery in June, and a canceled visit to Dubai in November due to flu and lung inflammation.
It is worth noting that Pope Francis, who is 87 years old, had part of one of his lungs removed during his teenage years. Despite his age and health challenges, he remains active but appears to be slowing down due to the increasing frequency of illnesses he is facing.
