Pope Francis, the 88-year-old pontiff, recently suffered an injury to his right arm after falling at his residence, Casa Santa Marta, in the Vatican. The Holy See press office confirmed that the Pope did not sustain any fractures but suffered a contusion to his forearm. As a precautionary measure, his arm has been immobilized.
This incident marks the second fall the Pope has experienced in a short period. In early December, he had a fall that resulted in a bruise on his chin after hitting his bedside table during the night. Pope Francis has been facing various health challenges, including mobility issues due to knee pain, which have led him to use a wheelchair since 2022.
In his autobiography titled 'Hope,' the Pope acknowledged his age and the physical limitations that come with it. He expressed that while it was initially difficult to accept using a wheelchair, he understands that aging is a natural process that must be embraced. Despite these challenges, Pope Francis remains committed to his duties, emphasizing that the Church is guided by intellect and compassion rather than physical mobility.
He shared insights into his health routine, which includes physiotherapy sessions twice a week, using a walking stick for support, and striving to maintain an active lifestyle within his capabilities.
