A poorly dog was found in a horrific condition was found wandering alone on a hill in Aberdeenshire.
The seriously underweight pooch, believed to be a Lurcher, was discovered between Keith and Buckie, Banffshire, on Sunday March 6.
Shocking images released by the SSPCA show the emaciated pup with barely any fat on his body, with his ribs protruding through his skin.
He is so skinny that the bones of his legs can also clearly be seen.
The SSPCA believe the male Lurcher is around two or three years old and is described as a "friendly boy" despite the way he has been left.
The charity have been unable to find his owner as he's not microchipped and is now in their care of their Aberdeenshire centre.
Officials are now appealing for any information as to how the dog came to be on the hill alone is such poor condition.
Senior inspector Lesley Crockett said: “The dog was a male, tan Lurcher type dog. We estimate him to be around two to three years old and he is not neutered.
“He was found in an emaciated condition on a hill between Keith and Buckie, Banffshire.
“He was not microchipped so we have been unable to find his owner. He is now in the care of our Aberdeenshire centre.
“Despite his condition, he is a friendly boy which suggests he has been well socialised.
“We’re keen to find out how the dog came to be in the area in such poor condition.
