'Poor football' - Juventus sent brutal Arthur Melo Liverpool transfer message

Former Serie A defender Daniele Adani has sarcastically taken aim at Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri following Arthur Melo’s move to Liverpool.

Liverpool yesterday completed a season-long loan deal for the midfielder after the Reds made a late move for the Brazilian on transfer deadline day. The 26-year-old aids Jurgen Klopp's midfield crisis after recent injuries.

The Brazilian becomes Liverpool's fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay earlier in the transfer window. Reds boss Klopp was keen to bring in further midfield reinforcements following Jordan Henderson’s injury against Newcastle United on Wednesday.

Arthur, who is a defensive midfielder by trade, has been in and out of the Juventus team since joining in the summer of 2020, making 31 appearances last season of which 16 were starts. He has yet to feature this season and didn't take part in the Italian team's pre-season tour.

The Brazilian had previously spent two years at Barcelona where he featured as a late substitute in the famous 4-0 Champions League semi-final second leg defeat at Liverpool in May 2019.

And Adani, who is a former Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Brescia defender turned pundit, couldn’t help but take aim at Allegri following confirmation of the transfer.

“The news is that Arthur is so bad that he joined Liverpool,” he said in an Instagram video. “So, after saying that Arthur was bad, we must say the same of Klopp…poor football.”
