Pontins horror as guest finds poo in room amid 'filthy' and 'abysmal' conditions

Pontins guests have been left shocked and revulsed after one found a poo in their room among “filthy” and “abysmal” conditions.

Holidaymakers heading to the Camber Sands resort hoping for a family-friendly were left severely disappointed.

Despite being located in one of the most sought after holiday spots in the country, some visitors went as far as dubbed Pontins Camber Sands “Camber Slums”.

One guest had travelled across the UK to Camber from Derbyshire with his mum and said the pair ended up going down to the beach just to avoid the resort.

Speaking to the Express, Jason, 39, said his chalet was “dirty” and had poo in the toilet still and an “unclean bathroom floor”.

He said that upon arriving he asked for the room to be cleaned again and it took over an hour for a cleaner to arrive who then only gave the space a “quick wipe down”.

Another guest from Kent, who asked to remain anonymous, visited the same resort with her husband and three children, aged two, 10 and 15.

Such was the state she found the room in she admitted she “could have cried” over the “disgusting” state of the park.

The mum of three said: “We only managed to stay one night. The apartment was disgusting, dated and dangerous.

“Windows were so dirty we couldn’t see out of them. The grounds were shocking, grass not been mowed in months by the looks of things. Thistles in the kids' play area.”

One beach-goer travelled from Hampshire with friends to visit a music and dance festival weekend, Rhythm Riot, and it was the first time he had ever been to Pontins Camber Sands Holiday Park.

Glynis Shaw claimed the place was a “total health hazard".

At one point during their stay, she claimed they woke up to find a “puddle on the lounge” which she said had come from the light fitting.

The guest also described the resort as “filthy and unswept” with unclean work surfaces, wardrobes and mattresses.

On TripAdvisor, Pontins Camber Sands holiday park has had a total of 5,233 reviews.

A staggering 2,972 reviews are categorised as “terrible” and just 311 are categorised in the highest “excellent” bracket.
