A judge in Cobb County, Georgia, has issued an order for two polling places in Marietta and Kell to remain open until 7:20 p.m. ET due to delayed opening earlier in the day. This decision was made to ensure that voters who were unable to cast their ballots earlier have the opportunity to do so.
In a similar situation, a Pennsylvania judge has extended polling place hours in Laflin Borough until 9:30 p.m. This extension came after reports of delayed opening and voters being unable to vote during the initial hours of polling.
According to local news station WNEP, the judge of elections was absent from the Laflin location when polls were scheduled to open at 7:30 a.m. The first ballots were not cast until 8:30 a.m., causing frustration among voters who had waited in line for nearly two hours.
Both Georgia and Pennsylvania are crucial battleground states in the 2024 presidential election. These states are considered must-win by the campaigns of former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, respectively.
