The New England Patriots will look to get back on the winning track when facing the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
They were defeated by the Indianapolis Colts 25-24 in their last game out in Week 13. Quarterback Drake Maye was efficient on the day, going 24-of-30 passing for 238 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He kept the team in the game by making key plays late.
It was a game where the Patriots offense finally found some balance with the ground game also coming into play. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson had 18 carries for 73 yards, while Antonio Gibson had seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Nevertheless, the Patriots defense could not hold strong in the end. They gave up an 80-yard game-winning drive to Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. New England has had an entire bye week to stew on the heartbreaking loss.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals fell to the Seattle Seahawks last week by a 31-18 margin. Quarterback Kyler Murray struggled on the afternoon, going 25-of-38 passing for 259 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Running back James Conner has been a stabilizing force throughout his career, and he showed it again on Sunday. He carried the ball 18 times for 90 yards on the afternoon. Tight end Trey McBride was the team’s leading receiver and Murray’s safety valve. He caught seven passes for 70 yards on the day.
The Patriots lead the all-time series against the Cardinals by a 9-7 margin. They have won the last three meetings between the two teams.
For the Patriots, it’s about finishing the last four games of the season strong, as they look to build for the future. Who do you have winning Sunday’s game? Make sure to vote in our poll below.
