The Denver Broncos were one of nine NFL teams who hired a new head coach this offseason.
Denver brought in former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, replacing the recently fired Vic Fangio.
Eksewhere in the AFC, the Las Vegas Raiders hired Josh McDaniels after Jon Gruden stepped down during the 2021 season. The Jacksonville Jaguars replaced ex-coach Urban Meyer with Doug Pederson, and the Miami Dolphins fired Brian Flores and hired Mike McDaniel.
After firing David Culley, the Houston Texans promoted Lovie Smith to replace him. In the NFC, the New Orleans Saints also promoted an in-house candidate, hiring Dennis Allen after Sean Payton stepped away from football.
Three other NFC teams also made changes — the Chicago Bears fired Matt Nagy and replaced him with Matt Eberflus, and the New York Giants replaced Joe Judge with Brian Daboll. The final coach to be hired will be Kevin O’Connell, who is expected to replace Mike Zimmer with the Minnesota Vikings after the Super Bowl.
