Politicians and dignitaries gathered at the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, paying their respects in shades of blue. The color blue was a prominent choice, symbolizing a subtle nod to Carter's Democratic legacy. Former President George W. Bush wore a sky blue tie and navy suit, while President Joe Biden opted for a deeper, indigo shade of neckwear. Even President-elect Donald Trump, known for his signature red ties, chose a cerulean option for the occasion.

On the other hand, the first ladies arrived in traditional all-black attire. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton added a touch of patriotism with a gold bald eagle brooch featuring the US flag, a symbol dating back to 1782. First lady Jill Biden re-wore a Schiaparelli knee-length skirt suit previously seen at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022, complete with four golden buttons on her jacket. Melania Trump, the returning first lady, stood out in a long-sleeved black shift dress paired with an oversized white church collar.
