Police warning to people withdrawing cash in Merseyside

Merseyside Police have issued a warning to people withdrawing cash from ATM's in Merseyside.

The force issued a warning after they were called to a cash machine on Teehey Lane in Bebington, Wirral, on Friday, April 8, when people passing by noticed something suspicious. Officers removed a device from the cash point, which was being used to trick users into thinking the machine is broken, meaning the customer would walk away without their money.

Wirral Police posted a warning on its Facebook page on Friday, April 8 asking people to be "extra vigilant when using ATM's".

The post read: "Officers have today seized this device which had been placed on an ATM on Teehey Lane in Bebington. The device stops money from being dispensed tricking the user to think the machine is broken before walking away without their money.

"If you see something suspicious, do not use the ATM and report this as soon as possible."
