Youngsters have been warned to stay away from the fire-hit site of the former convent in Dumfries.
Police were called after a group were seen going into the grounds of the badly-damaged landmark on Saturday night.
Officers have issued a safety warning about “obvious dangers” in going near the building and scaling security fencing which has been erected around the site.
North West Dumfries councillor Graham Bell said: “We’ve had a major fire and disaster at the former convent and it’s been badly, badly burnt.
“There was always going to be a few loopholes with the new fencing for children to get into but as far as I’m concerned we really must keep people out of this site.
“It’s paramount, we do not want another fire causing mayhem and distress to the surrounding area.
“Parents need to educate their kids to keep them away from dangerous areas and situations. I know they’re back to school so hopefully that will deter them from going up there during the week.”
The former convent went up in flames in the early hours of Tuesday, August 9 with 65 fire fighters tackling the blaze for hours.
Police are continuing to carry out their investigations into the fire and have asked anyone who witnessed anything in the hours leading up to the early morning blaze to contact them.
“Anyone with any information about the fire is urged to contact 101, quoting incident 0307 of August 9.”
