Urgent search for missing little girl who knocked on door and said 'I'm lost'

Police have launched an urgent search for a little girl who knocked on someone's door saying she was lost.

Officers were called to the Hele area of Torquay, Devon, at around 11am this morning after a girl was seen alone.

The girl, believed to be around six years old, has been described as white, with long blonde hair and was wearing a black coat.

It has been reported that the child knocked at the door of a property, saying she was lost before running away.

Devon and Cornwall Police said she did not present any sign of "distress" and did not seem upset.

She was last seen running in the direction of Farm Foods at around 11am, the force added.

A police spokesperson said: "Our primary objective is to identify and find this little girl so that we can check her safety and welfare.

"Officers have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries in efforts to identify her and searches are ongoing to find her.

"The girl didn't present as being in distress or upset and was last seen running in the direction of Farm Foods at around 11am.

"We have released a CCTV picture of her in hopes that someone might recognise her and let us know who she is."

Anyone who recognises the girl in the image or has any information which may assist police is asked to call 999 quoting log 227 of 5 April.
