Police update after man in wheelchair 'punched to floor' near BSB bar in Bristol

Avon and Somerset Police have issued an update after it was reported a man in a wheelchair was attacked outside a bar on the waterfront in Bristol. The incident, which police now believe happened just after 1.30am on Friday, March 17, involved video on social media which showed a man being punched and knocked to the ground.

The police force has confirmed it is attempting to identify the victim and is appealing for witnesses to come forward and aid in the investigation. The video, which police say has been 'viewed widely', has sparked an appeal from the force and they are asking anyone with information to contact them quoting the reference number at the bottom of this article.

Officers also visited the venue and area yesterday (March 20) to make enquiries. The incident is believed to have taken place near BSB The Waterfront.

A police spokesperson told Bristol Live earlier today: " I can confirm we have collected CCTV from the local area, including BSB bar, and we believe the incident happened at just after 1.30am on Friday. We are making further attempts today to identify the victim and are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward."

On Monday, Inspector Adam Dolling said: “The video has been circulated and viewed widely and it’s important we identify the people in the footage. We believe it happened close to the BSB bar on the Waterfront and we’re making enquiries at the venue and in the surrounding area today.

“We’d ask anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible. We haven’t been able to clarify when this incident happened." Police have not confirmed they believe the incident took place on March 13 at around 1.30am.
