Police update after man found seriously injured in 'middle of the road' in early hours

Police said they are continuing to investigate how a man who was found in the 'middle of the road' with serious head injuries in Trafford got hurt.

Officers found the man on Chassen Road in Flixton at around 1.15am on Wednesday morning. They were initially alerted to a 'concern for welfare'.

He was found with serious head injuries in the road. He was rushed to hospital from the scene in a serious condition.

In an update issued to the Manchester Evening News this morning, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said that officers do not know how the man came to suffer his injuries yet. An investigation into this remains ongoing.

The man's condition has now stabilised in hospital, the spokesperson added. No arrests have been made at this stage.

A cordon was put in place on Chassen Road after the incident. The road was taped off from Balmoral Road to Shawe Road with officers pictured stationed at both ends of the cordon.

Chassen Road train station was also closed off as it sat within the area that had been taped off.
