Police found 550 cannabis plants when they raided a house in Wigan following a tip-off from the public. The cannabis farm was found in a large Victorian terraced home on Tuesday morning (June 7).
It followed a raid at the property on Upper Dicconson Street in Wigan at around 9.30am. A cannabis farm containing around 550 plants was found, along with industrial lighting.
A man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating class B drugs. The suspect remained in police custody and was being questioned by detectives, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

News of cannabis farm was revealed by GMP on its Wigan West Facebook page, including pictures of police at the scene and cannabis plants inside the home.
Engineers remained at the scene to make the electricity safe, the force said in a statement.
Sergeant Nick Forshaw, of GMP's Wigan district, said: "My neighbourhood officers have acted on intelligence from members of the community to target drug dealing in the area.
"This has been raised as a concern at community meetings to myself and local elected members. As promised we are doing our best to bring offenders to justice and take illegal drugs out of circulation.
"We cannot do this without the support of honest members of the public who are prepared to provide information via Crimestoppers or direct to the police."
