Swedish police surrounded a school in Örebro after 11 people were shot there on Tuesday, 4 February.
Armed police descended on the Risbergska School, an adult educational institute in the city which is around 200 km (125 miles) west of Stockholm.
Officials said the gunman was believed to be among those killed and a search for other possible victims was continuing at the school.
Local police chief Roberto Eid Forest said the gunman was not previously known to the police and has no suspected links to gangs or terrorism.
