Police stopping all traffic on route into city as murder investigations continue

Merseyside Police are stopping traffic on a route into Liverpool today as investigations into a spate of murders continue.

The force is currently out in East Prescot Road, stopping drivers and asking for information. Offices are still investigating the recent fatal shootings of Sam Rimmer, Ashley Dale and nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbell.

Knotty Ashy councillor Harry Doyle tweeted: "Great to see Merseyside Police out in force again today on East Prescot Road stopping all inbound traffic to the city. We need these killers behind bars. Speak up and share any info for Olivia, Ashley & Sam."

East Prescot Road is a major route to the east of Liverpool. It lies close to both Kingsheath Avenue, where Olivia was shot dead on Monday night - and the Old Swan area, where Ashley Dale was killed a day earlier.

A week on from Olivia's murder, which has shocked the nation, a heavy police presence remains in the Dovecot area where she lived. A cordon remains in place in Kingsheath Avenue as officers continue to carry out enquiries. Hundreds of tributes have also been left at the scene, including teddies, flowers and balloons.

Officers arrested a 36-year-old man from Huyton on Thursday August 25 and a 33-year-old man from Dovecot on Friday August 26 on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Both men were released on bail on Saturday. Police said the 36-year-old man has been recalled to prison after breaching the terms of his licence. The force stressed the investigation into Olivia's murder remains ongoing and they still need people to come forward.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We still need people to come forward so we can build up a strong evidential picture and bring those responsible to justice. We are still appealing to anyone who saw a black Audi Q3 car in the days leading up to the shooting, or has any information about its movements after leaving Kingsheath Avenue on the night of the shooting."

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111. If you have any CCTV/dashcam/smart doorbell footage that could help our inquiries they can be downloaded on the dedicated public portal for Olivia's murder, which will go straight through to the investigation team. Footage can be submitted here Public Portal ( mipp.police.uk )
