Lincoln Street is located just off Vernon Road and near the Basford tram stop and level crossing. It is no longer taped off to the public as it was earlier in the morning when police arrive at the incident.
Max Winton, 64, who lives nearby, said: “There’s never really much trouble around here to be honest, I’ve not seen police parked outside a house before.
"I come up and down this street a lot. I’ve seen this area change, it used to be shops but now they’re all flats. I’ve lived here all my life and had no trouble, I wouldn’t say I'm surprised though.”
Scott Mills, 24, a bus driver who also lives nearby, said: “I’m not sure what happened but there are police here regularly - more regularly than most places. I’m not sure what they’re doing or what’s going on now but I’ve not had any trouble.
“You keep to yourself really don’t you. Like I say I’ve not seen any trouble but I do see police cars around here a lot.”
A man who works at a garage in Lincoln Street, but wished to remain anonymous, added: “I didn’t see or hear anything. I don’t live nearby so not sure what happens around here. It must be pretty serious if there’s police outside because I’ve never seen them around here before.”
