Police statement as man stabbed after group enter house 'carrying knives' in Chilwell

A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in Chilwell.

Police were called to Penrhyn Crescent after a group carrying knives were reported to have entered a property just before 2pm on Wednesday, January 26.

One man who was left injured has been taken to hospital for treatment.

However, the injuries are not described as life-threatening or altering, police confirmed.

On Wednesday evening police officers remained at the scene, with a crime scene investigation van in place as the enquiries continued.

Detective Inspector Gayle Hart, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were quickly at the scene following the call and enquiries are progressing as we hunt the suspects.

“We believe this to be a targeted attack and don’t think there is a wider threat to the public.

“I’m confident that someone knows who did this and I’m appealing to them to come forward so we can get the perpetrators in custody as soon as possible.

“We are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area and are gathering evidence as the investigation continues – but if anyone has vital information that can help us find those responsible more quickly I would urge them to call 101 now.

“If you saw anything, have video footage, or if you have seen someone you know acting suspicious, or unusually agitated, we want to hear from you.”

Det Insp Hart added: “Thanks to the efforts of emergency services, a man who was injured is being treated for his wounds and his injuries are thankfully not thought to be life-threatening or altering.

“We understand the concern incidents like this can cause communities and we would offer reassurance that officers continue to have a high presence in the area and are available to speak to about any concerns.

“We continue our efforts and are committed to bringing those who commit these offences to justice."

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident 391 of January 26.

Penrhyn Crescent backs on to Chilwell Cemetery and the Chetwynd Barracks military site.

There have been reports of an air ambulance in the area - but this hasn't of yet been officially confirmed.
