Police seized a bus emblazoned with a rude Inbetweeners reference and found the driver had no insurance and only a provisional licence.
The privately-owned vehicle caught the attention of officers after they spotted the LED sign that would have once said the vehicle’s route.
However now it had “bus w*****s” on it as it drove, a catchphrase from the cult E4 show, HertsLive reported.
The slogan managed to land Jay Cartwright, played by James Buckley, in hot water in the show after he shouted it at his friends as he drove past, only to immediately get caught in traffic and attacked by a disgruntled bus user.
Similarly, the drivers of the bus found themselves in trouble and were reported by the officers who pulled them over in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire.
Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit's official Twitter account recounted the incident in a 2.14am post during the early hours of this morning.
It was also accompanied by a picture of the bus and the tweet read: "RP31 - Wheathampstead, Herts.
"This privately owned bus drew our attention around midnight for its Inbetweeners-themed message on the matrix.
"Sadly the driver only had a provisional licence and no proof of insurance.
"Bus seized, driver reported for offences."
