Police seize cannabis plants worth £1 million in Stirling

POLICE have seized more than 1000 cannabis plants worth an estimated £1 million after raiding a property in Stirling.

At around 4pm on Tuesday, officers recovered approximately 1400 plants after entering a property in the city’s Forth Street.

Two men, aged 24 and 29, have been arrested in connection with the seizure and were due to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Kat Thompson said: “Tackling drugs remains one of our top priorities and this operation highlights our commitment to eradicating them from our communities.

“We will use all available tools to combat this activity, but we cannot do it alone. We rely on the support and cooperation from the public and we encourage anyone with information or concerns about drugs to get in touch with us.”

Elsewhere on that same day, officers stopped a vehicle in Balblair near the Black Isle and recovered cannabis with an estimated street value of £600,000.

Two men, aged 29 and 33, have been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and were due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Detective Superintendent Brian Geddes said: “This recovery sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drugs in our communities. Our officers are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated in our local areas and addressing the concerns of local people.”
