Police seize 17 dogs after six-year-old girl mauled in brutal attack

Police have seized 17 dogs after a pack of canines mauled a six-year-old girl during a brutal attack on Sunday. Emergency services raced out to Ackers Lane in Carrington, Trafford at around 2.40pm after reports of an unconscious child who had suffered injuries during a dog attack.

Horrified neighbours are said to have seen another young girl and a man fighting with the dogs to get them off the little girl who was then picked up and taken away by a woman believed to be her mother. The victim is now understood to be in a stable condition in hospital, the M.E.N reports.

Officers seized four dogs and nine puppies on Sunday and have confirmed to have taken an additional four dogs today. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog but have all been released on bail.

A van has also been found in South Manchester during their investigation and is being examined. In video footage seen by The Mirror, courageous pedestrians can be seen fighting off the pack of aggressive dogs before the girl is brought to safety.

Blood can be seen on the floor after the canines were broken up. One man, who asked to remain anonymous said: "I have seen two big dogs on the street a lot, they are American Bullys. It's scary that this has happened here.

"She was just playing out and then this has happened to the poor little girl." Detective Inspector Matthew Dixon, of GMP's Trafford district, said: "This is a fluid investigation and so far we have recovered 17 dogs and made three arrests, as well as a vehicle of interest.

"However, the investigation is very much ongoing and anyone with information should contact police quoting log 1612-26/03/23."
