Police searching for witnesses after robbers armed with hammer threaten staff at Subway in Wallsend

An investigation is under way after a robbery where Subway staff were threatened with hammers in Wallsend.

At about 5.05pm last Wednesday (January 18) officers from Northumbria Police received a report of a robbery at the shop on Battle Hill Drive. It was reported that a number of offenders entered the premises and threatened two staff members with a hammer, before stealing the till and making off on foot.

Thankfully neither of the staff members were physically injured but they were left shaken by the incident. A full investigation has been launched into the robbery and officers are now asking anyone with information to come forward.
