Police are searching a property at Kudla in relation to a person missing from Adelaide's northern suburbs.
SA Police said detectives went to the property just after 6pm on Sunday after "receiving information relating to the address".
They said they found 20 cannabis plants being hydroponically grown in a back shed, along with a .22 calibre rifle and ammunition which was not stored securely.
Kudla man, 46-year-old Keith Yandle, was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm without a licence, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing ammunition, cultivating a commercial quantity of a controlled drug and possessing prescribed equipment.
Detective Inspector Mark McEachern said officers were searching the property for a body, possibly a northern suburbs man who went missing in the Kudla area.
"It's way too early for us to speculate … firstly, we need to establish, has a crime been committed?" Mr McEachern said.
"We're certainly keeping our options open as to who the person is and whether the information is, in fact, correct."
He said police were not aware of any links between the missing man and the residents of the Kudla address but said the investigation was still in its early stages.
Mr Yandle appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court via video link, and police opposed all forms of bail.
His defence lawyer, Stephen Ey, called for a home detention report and said this was a "complicated matter on a number of fronts".
Mr Yandle remains in custody and will face court again later this month.
