Police search for Mini driver after Weston-super-Mare hit and run injures pedestrian

Avon and Somerset Police have launched a public appeal after a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run in Weston-super-Mare. The man was struck by a passing car on Friday (August 5) and police say the driver failed to stop.

Officers say the man suffered a hip injury. They are now seeking witnesses to support their enquiries, and also want anyone with dashcam footage or information on the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Just after 4.30pm last Friday (August 5), the victim, a man in his 30s, was walking along Elm Tree Road, Locking, Weston-super-Mare. He was struck by the passing car, causing an injury to his hip.

"The driver failed to stop. We’re keen to trace the driver of this blue Mini One, which was seen on CCTV in the area at the time.

"If you witnessed the incident, may have dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage that may be useful or have any other information that could assist police with their enquiries, you are urged to get in touch with the police."

Anyone who can help can contact Avon and Somerset Police by calling 101 and giving the call handler the reference number 5222187930.
