Police search for elderly man with dementia who has gone missing overnight

An urgent search has been launched to find an elderly man with dementia who has been missing overnight.

Francis Young, also known as Frank, has been reported missing from the Woodlands area and was last seen on Burnbank Terrace around 10pm on Friday night.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and have urged anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.

Frank is described as being white, around 5ft 6, with grey/red short hair and a moustache, and glasses. He may be wearing a green parka-style jacket and a bracelet with his name and address on it, due to being a dementia sufferer.

Inspector Gordon Murphy said: “Given the amount of time Frank has been missing and the fact of his dementia, we are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing. We ask anyone with any information on his whereabouts to call police on 101, quoting incident 1205 of 7 January."
