Police Scotland officer sentenced for 'appalling' behaviour

A POLICE officer who subjected three of his colleagues to "appalling" language and behaviour while on duty has been spared jail.

Peter Fleming was sentenced at Greenock Sheriff Court today, having previously pleaded guilty to three charges of communicating indecently with women by engaging them in conversations of a sexual nature.

The 41-year-old also made sexual remarks towards the women in incidents between February 2021 and May 2023, while he was serving in Rothesay.

Fleming was put on a community payback order with two years of social work supervision and was ordered to do 160 hours of unpaid work.

Wednesday's hearing was also told that Fleming has resigned from the force since he pleaded guilty to the allegations against him in January.

Fleming had been placed on the sex offenders register on the day of his guilty plea last month.
