Police scene, boy to face murder trial and nan hit by car

Live updates as police cordon off road near GP surgery

Police have put a cordon in place on a Formby road, near to a GP surgery and pharmacy.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that a woman was hit by a car this morning (September 22) on Elbow Lane. The woman in her 80s was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are currently in attendance following a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Formby. We received a report at around 11.30am that a woman in her 80s had been involved in a collision with a car on Elbow Lane.

"The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening. The driver of the car stopped at the scene."

Boy, 15, to face murder trial over pensioner's death

A 15-year-old boy is set to stand trial next year after being charged with the murder of a pensioner.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the murder of Mr David Quigley who died following a burglary in Rock Ferry, Wirral. The 15-year-old was previously charged with aggravated burglary and wounding with intent in connection with the incident on October 25.

The charge sheets stated that a "walking stick was used to beat the victim, causing a bleed on the brain".

Nan hit by car rushed to hospital as driver flees scene

A woman was rushed to hospital after she was hit by a driver who failed to stop at the scene.

Merseyside Police were called to Wallasey Road, Liscard, at around 7.10pm on November 19 to reports of a collision. A woman in her 60s had been hit by a white car before the driver fled the scene.

The woman's grandson took to Facebook, urging anyone in the Wallasey Road area to check dash cam and CCTV footage of that evening. Merseyside Police have also issued an appeal.
