Police scene at docks, cocaine kingpin and Michelin star restaurant closing

Good afternoon, these are the latest lunchtime ECHO headlines.

Updates as massive police presence at Liverpool docks

Emergency services were called to King's dock in Liverpool.

Merseyside police confirmed that they attended an incident at around 10.55am on Monday, June 20. They were responding to reports of concern for safety of a man.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 10.55am, where it was reported a woman passer-by had come to the man’s aid and he was brought to safety.

"He has been taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment."

Cocaine kingpin brought down by Conor McGregor mural on wall

A cocaine kingpin was caught out by a mural of UFC fighter Conor McGregor.

Ryan Palin, 36, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply 700kg of cocaine, 15kg of heroin and 40kg of amphetamines at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, June 17. Detectives had identified an Encro Chat handle of 'Titch.com' after the encrypted phone network was hacked by French and Dutch police.

A jury was convinced that Palin was the user of this Encro Chat handle. Detectives connected Palin to the crime after photographs of the mural in his property in Mereworth, Caldy appeared on the phone.

Michelin star restaurant Fraiche to close for good after 18 years

A Michelin starred restaurant in Wirral will close for good.

Fraiche, based in Oxton, is set to close it's doors in September. Chef Marc Wilkinson revealed he needed "some much needed time and space to explore other projects, ideas and interests.

In a social media post, Marc said: "I have some good and some sad news to share with you; let's get the gloomy side out of the way first. The time has now come for me to step away from the restaurant side of Fraiche and give myself some much needed time and space to explore other projects, ideas and interests, which previously I have been unable to pursue and finally make the transition from one man and his restaurant to one man and his dog."
