Police say they are 'increasingly concerned' over welfare of missing Lanarkshire schoolgirl

Police in Hamilton say they are “becoming increasingly concerned” for the welfare of a missing schoolgirl.

Ashleigh Paterson was last seen around 9.30pm on Sunday night, with her family not having heard from her since.

The 15-year-old was in the company of a friend in the Motherwell area at Airbles Train Station, but her current whereabouts are unknown.

Inspector Nicol told Lanarkshire Live : “Ashleigh has been missing for a number of hours now, this is out of character for her and her friends and family are understandably concerned.

“We have a number of police resources out looking for Ashleigh and I am seeking the assistance from the public in an effort to trace her.

“Ashleigh may have travelled to a different area.”

Ashleigh is described as being slim build, black hair about 5ft 2in wearing a black puffer jacket and black leggings.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
