Police say a body has been found in search for missing Amble man Keith Tanner

Police have confirmed this afternoon that a body has been found in the search for missing man Keith Tanner.

Officers appealed for information after the 67-year-old was last seen walking on Philip Drive, Amble, Northumberland, at around 9.20am on Monday (February 13).

A search was launched after his family reported him missing when they were unable to make contact with him, but tragically, a body has today been found.

Inspector Andrew Doyle, of Northumbria Police, said: “This is an incredibly sad update and one we certainly did not hope to deliver.

“Our thoughts remain with Keith’s family and loved ones. We will continue to offer them support during this extremely difficult time and would ask that their privacy is respected.”

Formal identification is yet to take place but officers believe it to be Keith. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this devastating time.

Police do not believe there to be any third-party involvement in his death and a report will now be made for the coroner.

Insp Doyle added: “We want to thank everyone who shared our appeal to help find Keith, as well as all our officers, partners and volunteers who assisted with our search. It is hugely appreciated.”
