Queensland police have confirmed they are investigating an incident in a public park in Noosa last week, allegedly involving former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke and his partner, Jade Yarbrough.
A video, taken by a bystander and published by media on Wednesday night, appears to show Ms Yarbrough accusing Clarke of infidelity — a claim he has denied.
Nine's Today Show host Karl Stefanovic, who is married to Ms Yarbrough's sister, is then seen attempting to calm the situation before a woman appears to slap Clarke.
Police said that they were reviewing footage of the incident.
"Queensland Police are investigating an incident between a 30-year-old woman and 41-year-old man depicted in footage at Lions Park on Gympie Terrace in Noosaville earlier this month," a spokeswoman said.
"As this matter on January 10, 2023, is under investigation the Queensland Police Service is unable to provide any further comment."
Clarke has issued an apology, saying that he is "gutted" about the incident and describing his actions as "shameful and regrettable".
Clarke captained Australia's men's cricket team from 2011 to 2015, after debuting in 2003.
He is regarded as one of the team's best-ever players after scoring 8,643 Test match runs at an average of 55.92.
After his retirement, Clarke has remained involved in cricket through commentary roles.
