Police return to river where Nicola Bulley's body was found

Police have returned to the scene where Nicola Bulley's body was found.

Lancashire Police officers were seen in the River Wyre last week almost two weeks on from the tragic discovery. Nicola had been walking her dog in St Michael's on Wyre after dropping her daughters, aged six and nine, at school on January 27.

On Sunday, February 19, a body was found on a stretch of river and a police cordon was put in place. The body was found on Sunday morning around a mile from where the 45-year-old mortgage adviser was last seen.

Police confirmed the body was in fact that of Nicola Bulley on Monday, February 20. Now, a police diving team has been spotted in the river on Tuesday, April 4, with a video being uploaded to YouTube of the team in the water.

A police spokesperson told the Lancashire Post: “We can confirm this is us carrying out some work at the direction of HM Coroner."

An inquest into her death is to be heard on Monday, June 26 at County Hall in Preston, the Mirror reports.

The search saw police, firefighters, mountain rescue, underwater teams and the local community comb through a massive area from the river to the coastline. A specialist search was also launched by Peter Faulding, who used sonar equipment to scour the water - but his efforts reportedly led to him being removed from the NCA expert list.

Speaking at a press briefing at police headquarters on Monday, February 20, Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson confirmed the body had been identified as Ms Bulley. In a message to Sky News on Sunday, before the body was identified, Ms Bulley's partner Paul Ansell said: "No words right now, just agony.

"We're all together, we have to be strong."
