Police are seeking the public's help to identify four men who allegedly abducted a 17-year-old boy in Adelaide's beachside suburb of Somerton Park Thursday night.
According to police, the teenager was walking along the Esplanade near Yarrum Grove when a white sedan containing four men stopped alongside him at 10pm.
The teenager — who was walking home after going out with friends in nearby Glenelg — was repeatedly asked if he wanted a lift and he declined several times.
Two of the men then got out of the rear of the vehicle and "forcibly pushed" the teenager into the back seat.
The car then drove for about two minutes before getting stuck in traffic at the roundabout at the corner of Partridge Street and Pier Street in nearby Glenelg.
The teenager managed to jump out of the car and run home, before alerting police.
None of the men spoke to the boy while he was in the car.
"The motives of this incident are not currently known," Detective Inspector Kieran Baggoley said.
A composite image of one of the suspects has now been released.
The boy described one of the men as being in his late 30s to early 40s, with a solid build, 190 centimetres tall and having a dark but greying beard.
That man was wearing a dark grey hoodie.
A second man was in his 30s, with a muscular build, about 180cm tall and wearing an orange T-shirt and white beanie.
All four men were described as Caucasian.
Inspector Baggoley urged any witnesses to come forward, including with dash cam or CCTV from the area, which would have been busy with visitors to the beach on Australia Day.
"We are treating this as a genuine abduction and we will continue to investigate it as such," he said.
The boy was not injured and no weapons were involved in the abduction.
