Police release CCTV after assault in Sunderland which left man with significant head injuries

A man was left with serious head injuries after an early morning assault in Sunderland.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man who they would like to identify in connection with the attack. It was reported that two men were involved in a verbal altercation in the Holmeside area near Crowtree Road at about 6am on October 16 last year.

One of the men then proceeded to assault the other – causing the victim to fall to the ground and suffer significant head injuries. An investigation was launched and has been ongoing ever since the report of the assault. Police have now identified a man who they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

He was in the area at the time and could have information that may assist the investigation. The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of or by calling 101 quoting crime number 114033Y/21.
