Police recover stash of weapons and drugs during Cumbernauld property raid

A police raid at a property in Cumbernauld has uncovered a haul of weapons and drugs sometime last week.

The discovery was made when Cumbernauld Community Officers searched a flat in the North Lanarkshire town, writes the Daily Record.

Images of the seized items were posted on social media by the force on social media after the weapons were made safe by specialists. There appears to be a large machete, as well as three other bladed weapons and a small baseball bat.

A large quantity of cannabis and other bagged drugs can also be seen.

Three mobile phones and other objects which have been sealed away in evidence bags are also laid out on the police station table.

The front door is also pictured as smashed in with its windows smashed after presumably battered in by officers who were executing a search warrant.

A spokesperson for Lanarkshire Police Division said: "Cumbernauld Community Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Cumbernauld last week.

"Unfortunately, the householder was not within when the items pictured were recovered. Officers ask that the householder pops into the office to discuss them."
