Police probing Ayrshire beach hate crime after man spat on and verbally abused

Police are investigating a hate crime that was carried out at an Ayrshire beauty spot.

Officers have released an image of a woman they want to speak to as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident that took place at Irvine beach park.

Cops say the 42-year-old man was spat on and verbally abused at around 2pm on Saturday, June 10.

The woman is described as white with blonde hair and typically wears clear rimmed glassed and was wearing light blue shorts, a bikini top and black trainers.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are releasing an image of a woman they wish to speak to as part of an ongoing investigation into a hate crime incident in Irvine.

"Around 2pm on Saturday, June 10, a 42 year-old man was verbally abused and spat on at Irvine Beach Park.

"Officers believe the woman in the image can assist with their enquiries. She is white, with blonde hair. She usually wears clear rimmed glasses and was wearing light blue shorts, a bikini-top and black trainers.

"If anyone recognises the woman in the image, please contact officers at Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2361 of 10 June, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously."
