Police probe 'unexplained' death as body found at Scotland's most southernly point

THE body of a man has been found at the shore of the most southernly point of Scotland.

A Police cordon has been in place at a car park in Mull of Galloway, Dumfries and Galloway since the discovery around 5.40am on Monday morning.

Police have confirmed they have launched a probe into the death. It is currently being treated as unexplained.

It is understood that lifeboats were launched in the early hours of Monday morning in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40am on Monday August 7 2023, the body of a man was discovered at the shore at Mull of Galloway.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The RNLI has been approached for comment.
