Pupils at a Stirling school have been left gutted after vandals broke in and torched equipment there worth £1000.
The incident happened at Borestone Primary, St Ninians, in the early hours of Monday.
Police described the incident as a “mindless act of destruction” as the Primary 1 outdoor learning resources were destroyed in the fire.
Three people entered the P1 garden at the rear of the school and forced open the shed. They removed the items within – including wooden stools, stairs and rubber bricks – and set them on fire causing around £1000 worth of damage.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Due to this, the P1s, who should have been out enjoying the sunshine today, have nothing to aid their outdoor learning and play. We can all appreciate how difficult this will have been for the children and staff to come into this mess and it will be some time before they can get new resources.”
