A witness says she saw a group of roughly fifteen men “pummell” a man on a Victoria line Tube on the way to a Tyson Fury boxing match.

A woman was also reportedly injured in the disturbance.

A witness told the Standard a group of men attacked the victim after he politely told them they were bumping into a woman on the packed Tube on Saturday evening.

They said the group of around fifteen men appeared to have been on their way to the Tyson Fury boxing match versus Derek Chisora in Tottenham when the attack happened around 7pm at Warren Street.

“He told the man, “Is that your missus, why do you care?”, said the witness, who did not want to be named.

“One of them leaned in for a punch and then the whole group just absolutely pummelled him [the victim].

“There were children on board, including a baby, it was absolutely atrocious. People were screaming because there was a surge.

“The boy was screaming, ‘My phone, my shoes’. I cleaned the blood off his face and hugged him while he cried.”

They described the group of men being aged between 25-35 and the victim as being aged 18-25.

Police confirmed they were investigating the incident and urged any witnesses to get in touch. Officers said they did not believe the man was left seriously injured after the attack.

“Officers received a report of an assault on board a Victoria Line Underground train at around 7pm on 3 December,” said a British Transport Police spokesperson.

“It’s believed a group of young men assaulted a man and woman before leaving the train at Warren Street.

“Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 601 of 03/12/22.”
