Police are appealing for witnesses after two homes on a new housing estate were deliberately set alight in broad daylight in Johnstone.
Officers were called to two properties on fire at Merchiston Oval in the Brookfield area around 7.20pm on Friday.
The properties are believed to be new-build, two-storey detached houses, which were still under construction.
Scottish Fire and Rescue attended the scene and managed to extinguish the fire which is now being treated as wilful.
There were no injuries as a result of the fires but approximately £500,000 worth of damage has been caused.
It comes just days after a fire was deliberately set at a derelict building on Maple Drive in the town.
Officers are following a positive line of enquiry.
Detective Sergeant Karen Boyd, of Paisley CID, said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around that time is urged to get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3242 of 6 May.
“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 111 555, where anonymity can be maintained.”
