Police probe after car hits three children in 'serious' crash on Scottish road

A POLICE probe has been launched after a car ran into three young children.

An 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were rushed to hospital after the incident on Bog Road in Penicuik, south of Edinburgh, on Sunday.

Medical staff at the Royal Hospital for Children in Edinburgh confirmed their injuries as “serious”, police said.

A third child, a 12-year-old girl, was also involved in the crash but was fortunately uninjured.

Officers said that the car was a Volkswagen T-Cross and that the incident happened at around 3.20pm on Sunday, January 19.

The road was closed to allow for collision investigators to examine the location.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: "Our enquiries remain ongoing as we work to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

“Anyone with any information or dash cam footage should get in contact, no matter how insignificant it may seem."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1844 of January 19, 2025.
