Police patrol Nottinghamshire country park over reports of illegal fishing

Police have been patrolling a country park in Nottinghamshire following reports of illegal fishing. Officers visited Cotgrave Country Park on Wednesday, October 26, where they checked rod licenses and spoke to anglers.

Nottinghamshire Police said it had received a number of illegal fishing reports in recent months. The force said it had also been made aware of hare coursing, where hares are hunted down by sighthounds such as greyhounds, in the Langar, Barnstone and Cropwell Bishop areas.

"Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant regarding possible hare coursing incidents as this not only causes distress and harm for local wildlife but also causes significant damage to private land, gates and other items owned by local land owners or farmers," Rushcliffe South Police wrote on Facebook.
